Nepal is divided into 7 separate provinces, of which Bagmati Province is one. The capital of this province is Hetauda, while the capital of the country, Kathmandu, is also located in this province. Bagmati province covers an area of 20,300 square kilometers, which is 13.76% of the total area of Nepal, 147,516 square kilometers. The province is bordered by Koshi Province to the east and Gandaki Province to the west, China to the north area, Madhesh Province to the south area, and India. The lowest point of this province, which extends from 141 meters to 7,229 meters above sea level, is Golaghat in Chitwan, while the highest point is the Langtang Himal.
According to the facts mentioned in the Local Government Operation Act, 2074, it includes five mountainous districts of Dhading, Dolakha, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk and Ramechhap, two hilly districts of Nuwakot and Kavrepalanchowk, three valley districts of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur, and three inner Madhesh districts of Sindhuli, Chitwan and Makawanpur.
